(Yamazaki), best practices and various tips and tricks learned over 9 years of developing drivers for Windows CE devices.

This session highlights the porting requirements to get your drivers right for the next CE release. It diagramatically illustrates the Access-checking and Marshalling required, for both pointer parameters as well as embedded pointers, when accessed either synchronously or asynchronously under the new Virtual Memory Layout, providing Code Snippets to show API Usage. The talk also emphasizes on the need for Secure Copying for writting PQDs. We then conclude by presenting the CE User Mode Driver Framework Architecture, summarizing the requirements for porting drivers to User Mode.

In this session you will be introduced to the breadth of graphics runtime and driver models that make up Windows CE. In addition to an overview and key applications targets for the various graphics architectures (GDI, Direct Draw, Direc3D Mobile) there will be a drilldown into driver and application development relevant to this space. Critical differences from Windows CE 5.0 to Windows CE "Yamazaki" will also be disussed to give you a head start on the next generation of graphics technology.
